Guymon's own Felisha Chavez placed as second runner-up in the Miss Rodeo Oklahoma Teen 2010 Scholarship Pageant held in Oklahoma City, Okla., from July 22-25.
She is the daughter of Lisa Chavez, of Guymon, Okla., and Fidel Chavez, of Albuquerque, N.M. She is a 2009 graduate of Guymon High School, where she graduated in the top 20 percent of her class. Chavez has one sister, Dawna Macias, and two brothers, Joseph and Cordell Macias, who are her biggest fans.
Her grandparents are Alex and Rose Macias of Guymon, Okla., and Juan Chavez, of Deming, N.M. Chavez was an active member of Guymon FFA, showing sheep and she was top salesman of the blue and gold meat for three years in a row.
Growing up around horses has beenĀ quite beneficial for Chavez. She currently holds several degrees with FFA, the highest is the State FFA Degree. She plans to attend college and pursue her love for animals by going into the veterinary field.
Chavez is currently the Miss Guymon Pioneer Days Rodeo Queen and will compete in the Miss Rodeo Pageant in Woodward, Okla.
She would like to give a big thanks to all of her sponsors that have helped her get to this point; T & T Hydraulics, City National Bank, Bank of the Panhandle, Dennis Smith Agency, Cover-All Buildings, Wrangler, Standard Supply, A & E Mobile Homes, Professional Touch, Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma, Becky Robinson and Bill Newman.
She would like to give a special thanks to her photographer, R.T. Hicks and Guymon local, Alice Batterman, for painting the beautiful western patterns on her western apparel.
